The idea is simple: to make a democratic search engine, in which the order of the results are democratically elected by the users.
By voting in the results, thus giving us feedback about the ones you like and don't like, we can maintain a better listing and get rid of those spam-filled, illegal, and poor quality websites.
This is the power of democracy.
Democracy: Results are sorted by the number of votes. The most popular come first.
Freedom of speech: All users can share feedback about all websites. This feedback is very important in giving users the confidence necessary to enjoy the internet. At the same time we try to reward good service and expose wrongdoing.
Self-Regulation: In Kratia there are no bosses, no administrators, no moderators. Everything is self-regulated by users, and subject to peer review.
Participation: Kratia is sustained by user's contributions, by their votes, comments and reviews. Everybody is important and necessary.
Equality: In Kratia every vote has the same value. There are no distinctions, no classes, no authorities.
Trust: We trust in people. We respect their opinion and intelligence. By honouring the wisdom of people we hope to contribute to a better and more fair world.
For first time searches, Kratia uses such a giant as Msn search, but could use any other search engine that provides search results. This gives a very good starting point from which to refine the search.
The results are stored in our database, with the feedback given by our users, thus allowing us to sort the results according to the preferences of the majority.
